The Hum of a Dreaming Moon

Multi-page layout is my favorite kind of design project. I loved books as a child and teenager, and as a professional designer, I had always longed for the opportunity to design a book that would actually grace bookshelves someday.

My opportunity came in the form of a project from my friend and musical partner, Andrew Preston of A.p. Harbor. Andrew graduated from the Center for Traditional Music in Morehead, KY and has written a large discography of his own songs. Starting in 2020, he set out to record every song he had ever written. Andrew is also a manager at Coffee Tree Books of Morehead, KY. So, as a bookseller, his next goal was to publish his lyrics as a book of poetry.

The Hum of a Dreaming moon was born from this goal, and I am incredibly proud to have been the designer on this project (although Andrew prefers to call me his illustrator because of the sketches I also did for the book).

Careful attention was paid to page margins and layout consistency throughout so that it would truly look like a modern book of poetry. The cover design was a combination of physical art photographed and then digitally edited. Newer prints of the book will also feature the new A.p. Harbor logo I designed in 2026.
